How to Choose The Right Weight Loss Program for You

Loosing weight is a simple proposition right? Exercise more or eat less food and you're there. If only it was that simple but it's not unfortunately. You have a much higher chance of seeing benefits from a weight loss program if you take the time to choose the right program in the first place.

Starting a weight loss program should be more about Matching than Choosing. Matching the parameters of each program to the kind of person it's aimed at, not just selecting a program because it promises huge weight loss or has a flashy sales page or website.

medical weight loss, learn diet program, weight loss products,

All weight loss programs have one thing in common. They all make a big play about the amount of weight you can lose. To the best of my knowledge though, no attempt is made to match any particular program to a particular body type or profile.

The reason for this is quite simple. The weight loss industry is extremely competitive and producers of weight loss programs are keen to address their product to the widest possible audience. Having a matching system in place would result in certain segments of the consumer market not matching the program parameters, which would result in a smaller target audience and lower sales of the product.

In my experience, the effectiveness of weight loss products varies from person to person.A program which shows excellent results for Person A, might not show equivalent results for Person B. It doesn't make the program bad, it just means it's not suited to the particular requirements of Person B.

The number one reason people abandon their weight loss attempts is frustration. Frustration at not getting the kind of results they were expecting, frustration because the latest program they tried isn't working, frustration because they don't see the promised weight loss.

For most people fighting a weight problem, time is the most expensive resource available. If you're not losing weight then you're probably gaining weight, so time wasted is time lost. Most weight loss programs aimed at real people are relatively inexpensive, so the primary loss you could suffer from the wrong choice is lost time.

Loosing weight takes a certain amount of commitment. Commitment to reduce or even eliminate certain food types, commitment to stick to a schedule, commitment to follow the details of a particular weight loss program.

Choosing a program on a whim will probably result in failure, as human nature makes it very difficult to commit to something we feel is wrong for us. That's why making the right choice of program has to be the number one step in your fight with a weight problem.

So how do you choose the right program? Not everybody has the time or necessary background knowledge to do all the necessary research. There has to be a simple formula to apply in order to make the right choice.

My approach is quite simple in that it matches 3 easy to assess parameters to weight loss programs. These are:

1. Body type based on Body Mass Index

2. Weight Loss Expectation

3. Weight Loss time frame

Applying these 3 easy parameters to choosing a weight loss program can save the most important resource you have at your disposal - time. Make the right decision and your weight loss has a much higher probability of success.

Make the wrong choice and you'll probably be choosing again in a very short time.
